Charlotte Gainsbourg the Unassuming Actress

vanityfair.it

Charlotte Gainsbourg is a French and British actress who has made films in several different countries: France, America, UK, Australia. In fact, my first time to see her in a film and began to take notice was the 2010 Australian film, The Tree. I actually thought she was Australian until I saw her in several more films. While she is not a raving beauty like Audrey Fleurot or a funny – cutsie actress like Audrey Tautou, I find her very cerebral and sophisticated, which makes her gorgeous. The roles she has played have been quite diverse, and like a chameleon she could be given almost any storyline and make you believe she is this person. Her movements on screen make her seem quite flexible almost like a puppet with no strings (Pinocchio). I say this because she is not what you would typically call graceful when she walks, I can’t imagine trying to imitate her and yet she is fascinating with this signature style she seems to own. Maybe France knows and understands her, but here in the U.S. I think we need to pay more attention, especially those of us who can handle her type of films.

I feel like Jim Morrison was a shaman or a chieftain or philosopher of some type, in another lifetime. I have also learned that elements of our past lives transfer forward.  Jim Morrison may have been a genius but he was not strong enough emotionally to beat addictions. His words have great meaning, for him and they can teach us something about his life. However, it was all too much for him to handle.

David Bowie, More Than You Wanted to Know

1983 poster that once hung in my living room

It was shocking to hear that he passed a month ago, as most of his fans had no idea he was dying. As I began to read the obituary in “The Guardian,” mid-way there was a YouTube link for Lazarus which I clicked on to watch.  Listening to the first sentence “Look up here, I’m in heaven,” and the chills began to creep up. What an amazing way to say goodbye at the end of your life. At the same time, I began looking at other articles related to his passing and kept hearing Christopher Sandford’s name as the author of what appears to be Bowie’s only biography, entitled “Loving the Alien.” I put myself in queue through Amazon, for this book which was immediately on backorder after his death.
